A Simple Quinoa Pineapple Recipe

I like to cook breakfast on weekends as I find it relaxing activity.  It also allows me to experiment with different foods which I want to try out.  Since on weekdays I need to go to work early morning I am unable to cook breakfasts. Hence I make sure that weekend mornings are utilized to the fullest.

I like quinoa and just a few days back I was cooking Quinoa for my breakfast.  When I had finished cooking I noticed that I had pineapple in mi Kitchen.  I thought of adding it to Quinoa.  I did that and it turned out to be delicious.  At the same pineapple also increased the nutrition value of the dish I prepared.  If you are also interested in this Quinoa Pineapple Recipe just read on to find out how you can prepare this.

Quinoa Pineapple Recipe

This is an extremely simple recipe and following are the ingredients –

  1. 1 cup Quinoa
  2. 1/4 cup of finely chopped Onions.  You can also have green onions optionally.
  3. 1/2 inch of finely chopped ginger.
  4. 1.5 cup of water.
  5. 1 tablespoon of oil or ghee
  6. Two or three slices of pineapple which are chopped into smaller pieces..
  7. 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Cilantro or Coriander to taste.


Soak the Quinoa in water for 1 hour so that it becomes softer and easier to cook.Quinoa Pineapple SaladIn a pan add oil or ghee and heat up the pan in medium heat and add cumin seeds.  When the cumin seeds start crackling add onions and chopped ginger.  Let it cook for some time till onions become little soft.  Once the onions become softer add the quinoa and water and salt.  Let it cook till the water is gone and quinoa is cooked and soft.

Finally you can add chopped pineapple and cilantro for garnish.  Serve it hot and enjoy the meal.

This meal will not only satisfy your hunger it will also provide nutrition including protein and fiber.  If you do not soak it in water then you will need to cook for more time and also need more water to cook.

Some Information on Ingredients

You can also add 1 teaspoon of ghee after cooking.  This will add additional flavor and taste to your recipe.  Ghee is one of the healthiest fats for cooking as well as for general consumption.
