Metamucil has several benefits and uses for various health conditions. Many people often think of Metamucil as a laxative and no more.  The fact is metamucil is much more than a laxative, it has much more than that.  In fact in proper sense metamucil, or for that matter psyllium is not a laxative. It is plant based fiber which promotes healthy bowel movements.

However you may not be aware that metamucil can also be used for controlling diarrhea.  I would like to remind you that metamucil essentially contains Psyllium, so this solution will also work with any product which uses Psyllium such as Isabgol.

How to Use Metamucil to Control Diarrhea?

Diarrhea is usually a symptom that body is suffering from heat.  It can be caused by both internal and external factors. For example some times in the summers you may suffer from heat stroke which can cause diarrhea.  It can also be caused due to food indigestion or sometimes due to stomach infections.

Using metamucil or isabgol for diarrhea is simple process.

Take 2 tablespoon of metamucil or isabgol and mix it with a small bowl of yogurt and have it. Take this for two or three times a day. Yogurt will cool down the bowel and reduce body heat and psyllium will absorb the extra water from the gut and solidify the stool and help you avoid loose motions.

Just follow the above for 2 to 3 days and you would be able to control and get rid of diarrhea.
