What happens when you eat only Veggies and Fruits For 3 Weeks

One of my colleague is currently on the 3 week diet in which he is just taking veggies which are slightly steamed and fruits.  He also takes plant proteins which are available as dietary supplements in many stores and online.  There are some restrictions he is following – Although fruits and vegetables can be eaten as much as he likes, the amount of fruits should be half of the vegetables.  You can also take some nuts.  You should also take some fiber supplements during this period.  Starchy vegetables such as potatoes should be avoided.

Dairy products are not allowed in this duration.  No alcohol is allowed.  He does it each year for 3 weeks and then gets back to normal diet.

Results

He has lost 11 pounds of weight in two weeks.  I can see his skin clear and shinning.  And he has more energy.

These results are not unique to him.  You can also shed extra weight in double digits pounds if you do this.  This may seem an exaggeration but I have seen it happen with my own eyes.

Are there any Drawbacks

Many people suffer from headaches and lack of energy during first 2 to 3 days.  This is more likely to happen if you are doing it for the first time.  This happens due to withdrawal syndrome of sugar rich foods to which our brains are addicted to.  It could also happen due to detoxification process during this period.

Which Vegetables are Easy To Eat

Although you can eat almost all vegetables,  usually the following veggies are easy to steam and take it for lunch – Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots, Bell Peppers and french beans.  You can also make smoothies made of berries such as blue berry, strawberry mixed in water and scoop of protein which could be made from mixture of whey, flax seeds and chia seeds.

You can also create lentil soup in large quantity and eat portion of it each day.  It may be kept in the fridge till that time.

You can also make guacamole and salads such as quinoa.

What are the benefits

Steamed VegetablesAs mentioned above the most visible benefit is weight loss.  In fact when you take this diet for 21 days through out the entire day you enter into fat burning mode.  Since these vegetables are rich in fiber, they need lot of energy to be digested hence the net calories is quite less.

Your body starts getting all the nutrients you need.  The fiber supplement helps clean the colon which helps in detoxification.  This process clears constipation as well as any old remains in the colon and intestines.  This is also one of the reasons for weight loss and increase in energy after the initial energy issues.

Once you finish the 21 days you will start liking the increase energy and also be able to see how the food affects the body and health.  This encourages us to stick to better diet even when we are not following this strict regimen.

This diet also improves the skin and the hair.  Many people have shinier hair.

It reduces and then stabilized the blood glucose level.

You will also have better sleep.
